3Tera is a self-funded software startup changing the way online applications are run. Our grid operating system, AppLogic, is quickly establishing the standard for utility computing. We are enabling SaaS and Web 2.0 companies to build their services without the capital investment and staffing associated with scaling their services with traditional hosting or collocation. Our partners are leading hosting providers managing tens of thousands of servers. Senior Software Engineer
The primary responsibility of the Senior Software Engineer will be to determine engineering and design specifications. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to design, implement, and test system software for kernel-mode and user-mode environments on a variety of 32-bit and 64-bit commodity hardware architectures, including Intel x86 and AMD.
The Senior Software Engineer will also analyze current operational procedures, identify issues, and determine specific input, output, and functionality requirements. This position will require leading the specification, design, implementation, and testing of subsystem level software components for 3Tera's AppLogic grid operating system and other products, including, but not limited to, network services, distributed file system, and block storage components. The successful candidate must also be able to identify, diagnose, and fix defects in the software, including defects in the OS and other standard modules.
Additional responsibilities include: providing technical review, validation and recommendations on software development projects developed by others in the team, participation in job specifications, and the interviewing and hiring of engineering and support personnel.

Junior Software Engineer (Full Time only)
The primary responsibility of the Junior Software Engineer will be to design, implement, and test individual software components for 3TERA’s AppLogic grid operating system and other products. The software components are for user-mode environments (and possibly kernel-mode) on a variety of 32-bit and 64-bit commodity hardware architectures including Intel x86 and AMD. The successful candidate will be expected to follow the company’s software lifecycle process for all software development and testing. This includes documentation for the specification, test plan, and implementation design of individual software components.
The successful candidate must possess the ability to work in a team environment where you will be responsible for incorporating feedback received from other team members into your deliverables.
Other responsibilities may include identifying, diagnosing, and fixing defects in the AppLogic grid operating system or other products, reviewing/updating product documentation, and helping with defining and executing product QA.

Customer Service and Support Engineer (Full Time only)
This position is for a mid-level operations/support engineer who will report to the Dir. of Operations and be responsible for new grid deployments, pre/post sales engineering, and direct customer support/training. Main responsibilities include primarily be pre-sales demos and operational deployments of the company's AppLogic Grid Operating System.
The position will require shift work, on call duties after normal business hours and could require some travel (< 10%)
